What a wonderfully clear photo! To me, it looks more like the the West Cliff,
going up from the pier, because all the Chines are in the distance. Yes, I'm
old--but not that old!

Certainly Alum Chine, Alumhurst Rd came down the hill with Studland Rd on the
right going up. The first large building on the corner was the Studland Hotel,
now demolished! On the top of the cliffs was a bowling green, see flagpole and
building. Memories from pre-war schooldays spent roaming that area. GH.

Dear Sir, As you can see from the above photo of Alum Chine in 1928, the top of
the cliffs had minimum shrubbery and a flat bowling green! Don't you agree that
it looks much better then than now? Why does the council insist on keeping this
awful scrub/brush? Why not clear it to expose the wonderful views? It simply
doesn't make sense.
