grant  - undercliff drive and bath rd from the pier   |Wed-11-2009
Taken from the pier towards Bath Rd circa 1908.The arched colonade shelters at
the entrance to Undercliff Drive still exist[now Harry Ramsdens is to the right
of the shelters and has a terrace that extends over the top of the shelters]
.The twin gabled building above the shelters is Seabourne House[1870's].Going up
Bath Rd the next three buildings were ,at one time or another, The Lynwood
Hotel,The Kildare Hotel and The Rothesay Hotel.None of the four buildings exist
now.The site of the three hotels now being the Bath Rd South car park between
Pier Approach and The Royal Bath Hotel.

Further to my previous comment...Seabourne House is where the back half of The
Waterfront Building [ The Imax] now stands. The three hotel buildings were built
in the 1870's and were demolished in the 1970's.
The three hotels feature in
quite a few images of the area taken over the years aswell as taking out adverts
in the official tourism guides issued by Bournemouth Council.
I have come
across next to no info on Seabourne House. Anyone?
