Bournemouth 200 - Corporate MembersTwelve companies, from multinational financial organisations to local hotel groups, will be recognised for their contribution to kick-start the celebrations of Bournemouth’s bicentenary in 2010.

At a special presentation on 28 November, J. P. Morgan, Aruba, Boots UK, the DeVere Royal Bath Hotel, Durley Hall Hotel & Spa Hotel Miramar, Liverpool Victoria, Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, Spectrum Housing Group, The Chine Hotel (FJB Hotels), Bournemouth Daily Echo and Bournemouth International Centre will all receive certificates from the Mayor of Bournemouth, Cllr Stephen Chappell, recognising their contribution to the town’s bicentenary plans, as ‘Bournemouth 200 Corporate Members’.
The Corporate Membership scheme has been established to assist Bournemouth Council in planning the 2010 Bicentenary Festival ‘Bournemouth 200’, which will celebrate 200 years since the founding of the Town.

A year-long programme of bicentenary celebrations will take place, with events and activities across the Town. Cllr Anne Filer, Chair of the Bournemouth 200 Committee, said, “I am so excited about Bournemouth’s 200 year anniversary.  The town’s Bicentenary celebrations will very much be owned by the people of Bournemouth.  We need people from all ages and all communities, whatever their interests, to get involved.   If you are planning an event, an activity or an initiative of any kind in 2010, why not get in touch and make this part of Bournemouth 200?”

Through the Corporate Membership scheme the Council is inviting local companies, large and small, from all market sectors to become associated with the celebrations and to help fund, enhance and support a range of exciting and diverse community events that will be staged across the Borough throughout 2010.

In his address, The Mayor said: “The Borough of Bournemouth is delighted that this gathering of companies is truly showing corporate citizenship credentials by supporting the Council in its efforts to give due recognition to this milestone in the history of Bournemouth”.

The Mayor also acknowledged the benefits of Corporate Membership and said: “The forthcoming Bournemouth 200 celebrations and the formation of a Corporate Membership scheme make it really easy and cost-effective for companies of all sizes to demonstrate true corporate social responsibility at a very local level.  They can satisfy both the commercial and social conscience of any company and its employees.”
