I think it might be a bit later - the lady in the white hat crossing the road is
wearing a very short skirt for 1907!! - and the 'cloche' hats suggest the 1920's
- or were they popular a bit earlier than that?
Now if only I knew enough about
vintage cars to identify the models....

I'll say it was taken around 1926
The photo was taken from Exeter Rd looking
into The Square. The building in the middle was the shelter for passengers using
the trams[1925]. The white building behind it was Richmond Chambers which was
demolished in the late 1920's and replaced, in the early 1930's, by the
buildings that now house New Look and Borders amongst others.
Opposite, on the
rh corner of Richmond Hill is Central Chambers [ 1888 ].It was The Empress Hotel
and Cadena Cafe amongst other things but is now Nat West.
Directly behind,on rh
side of Richmond Hill, is the Central Hotel destroyed in ww2 air raid as was the
Punshon Memorial Church next to it.
The church was rebuilt in Exeter Rd in the
1950's and now stands opposite the BIC but it is no longer used as a church and
has been sold for redevelopment.

Further to the above....
The fancy looking gateway in the right foreground led
into the grounds of Lainston Villa a large detached property. It had been the
home of Christopher Crabbe Creeke an important figure in the early development
of Bournemouth. The Villa became a tea house and gardens in the 1900's.In 1931
the bus station was built on the site with the main entrance being in the same
place as the entrance to the grounds of the villa. Now it is a pedestrian
entrance into the Exeter Crescent car park.
