A look at Lansdowne Crescent in 1870. A horse and cart can be seen along with some locals at the time. The lack of surrounding buildings was soon sorted out. See the other Lansdowne images that show the rapid development.

We are stood in the middle of The Lansdowne.Old Christchurch Rd on the left and
Lansdowne Rd on the right.
Lansdowne Crescent runs from Old Christchurch Rd to
Lansdowne Rd [the section seen in this photo].The other section,out of view to
the right,runs from the other side of Lansdowne Rd to Holdenhurst Rd and is the
same length as the section seen here.
The Lansdowne Hotel building [1860] still
stands and is one of the oldest still remaining in the town.It is now home to
O'Neill's Irish pub.
